In this musical-comedy premiere, love triangle hijinks meet women's empowerment all set to music in turn-of-the-century rural Vermont. Based on an historical anecdote, the setting is the Rochester House hotel, where four “kept-women” reside. Their men, married businessmen from White River Junction, visit them once a week via the new Peavine Railroad. The hotel is throwing a ball to celebrate the arrival of electric lights, and the mistresses have concocted a plan to turn the tables on their unsuspecting beaus. Will the men see the light? Will the women find their power? Come join us for Rochester Light & Power, the new original musical from the same creative team who brought you Second Chance, Ransom, and The Singing Master.

Rochester Light & Power is a new work by Dorothy and Dick Robson, co-founders of the White River Valley Players and co-creators of three previous musicals (Second Chance, Ransom, and The Singing Master).

The musical tells the story of women taking charge of their own lives in the days when women’s suffrage was still in question. It is a musical-comedy with serious and relevant themes.

Based on an historical anecdote, the setting is Rochester, Vermont, in 1901 at The Rochester House hotel, where four “kept-women” reside. Their men, married businessmen from White River Jct., visit them once a week via the new Peavine Railroad. The hotel is about to become the first in the area to boast electric lights.

Book and lyrics by Dick Robson; Music by Dorothy Robson.

Directed by Ethan Bowen; Produced by Don Crickard.
