The White River Valley Players are proud to present Vermont Stage Company’s joyful and moving performance of Winter Tales, one night only, Wednesday, December 23, 7:30 at the Federated Church in Rochester, Vermont.

Originally conceived and directed by Mark Nash, this five year tradition for the Burlington based professional theater is a celebration of the holiday season and winter in Vermont, featuring new stories and songs, and of course hot cider, fresh cookies and good friends.

Come enjoy an evening of hilarious and touching, original Winter themed stories by Vermont authors Philip Baruth, Stephen Kiernan, and Kathryn Blume performed by actors Ethan Bowen, Chris Caswell and Mark Nash, with original music by the legendary Patti Casey and Pete Sutherland.

All proceeds will go to benefit the Vermont Food Bank; suggested minimum donation $5 per-person. Recommended for ages 6 and up.

White River audience members will recognize many of the Winter Tales performers this year. As a founding member of the Blue Grass Gospel Project, Patti Casey has performed with them and solo on the Rochester green. Pete Sutherland is a very familiar face at the Summer Suzuki institute. Ethan Bowen is a long time friend, collaborator, board member with the Players when he is not away working as professional actor. Mark Nash has been artistic director for Vermont Stage Company for ten years and has toured shows to the central Vermont area. Dana Yeaton, Vermont’s finest playwrights has run several workshops in Rochester and his plays have toured here as well.

Philip Baruth, very familiar to VPR listeners for his commentaries, has written a hilarious takeoff of the “Eye On the Sky” weather crew. Stephen Kiernan, an author and former journalist has captured the intensity and transformational power of a winter ice storm. Kathryn Blume, in a two part story has imagined the hilarious and moving consequences of a very high profile Christmas couple’s move to Vermont.
